mad about WoW

after talking about World of Warcraft with a former guild leader (i forgot the name sorri but he was a lv60 Undead Priest by the name of Satanix) i have heard quite a lot about it that quite impressed me. An major incident in the game was even reported by the BBC!

check out http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4272418.stm
in a patch to the game, Blizzard added the Zul'Gurub dungeon which gave players a chance to kill Hakkar, the god of blood. in its death throes, Hakkar infected his enemies with an infection. it was only supposed to affect those around Hakkar when he died but players used a pet (which was not affected) to carry the disease into town where all the players converged! This resulted in hundreds of "bodies" in the online towns and players actually started avoiding them. Cool.
the event in Wow bear a similarity to what happened to players of the Sims. Sims which neglected their guinea pig risk getting bitten by the filthy pet and falling sick, subsequently dying. sick sims apparently do not recover and can pass the disease to others. haha weird stuff.
" Players of The Sims who have lavished attention on the virtual people for weeks only to see them cut down by a dirty guinea pig are getting annoyed. "
but there's another really hilarious incident that hl told me. Some time ago, a pro Wow player passed away and there was quite a big upset about it.(btw this happened in the states) some online friends organized a virtual funeral for the deceased player (background info: in Wow there are 2 factions - Horde and Alliance - basically good guys and bad guys) and the location and time of the funeral was made known to the public for others to pay their respects. When everyone was gathered to mourn the dead player, the opposing faction attacked in overwhelming numbers and wiped everyone out. HAHAHA omg the first thing that comes to mind when i heard it was that this kind of things only happened in novels about dead Mob bosses and the often violent takeovers by other kingpins wanting in. super funny :) :) :)
after playing the game for a while, using his soon to be defunct character, i found it a little boring to tell the truth (don;t kill me for this haha :p) since his character was a priest, all he could do was heal others since he had close to 0 offensive ability. he was rather easy to kill since he was a clothie (pardon the jargon) maybe i didn't get to see the whole guild in action so i didn't experience the full impact of the game " wOw got a lot of stratergy wan seriously!" one thing i really liked about the game was its slick graphics. he showed me a bat ride from a city to an outlying village and the game showed the flight in its entirety instead of a boring loading screen and i feel it really shows how much detail blizzard put in the game. commendable and damn cool!
