Sigh " the most action-packed movie of the year!" screamed the movie poster for Miami Vice which incidentally garnered 4 out of 5 stars from Straits Times. Lets just say it out flat. The movie is not bad but it definitely does not deserve a 4/5. The plot is simple and is basically about 2 cops who go undercover to bust a major drug smuggling ring. Unfortunately, ( and for unfathomable reasons) the cop Sonny (Farrell) falls for Isabelle (Gong Li), one of the leaders of the drug ring. And so with typical Hollywood clumsiness, the film shows how they fall in love with each other.( 1. boy looks at girl, girl looks back 2. boy + girl go for dinner 3. boy + girl go to a bar or club to dance and drink 4. boy+girl end up scewing each other and voila ! the perfect couple :) ) Some of the scenes in the show were quite well done, with tension aplenty and the moves perfectly cheographed. One that comes to mind would be where the cops bust in to rescue one of their own who had been taken by force. One of the baddies had his thumb on a detonator fixed on the hapless female officer and it was a Mexican standoff with the police paralyzed by indecision. Enter the cool- headed sharpshooter police chick who describes to the bad guy how he is gonna die and proceeds to shoot him in the medulla cortella so he dies before he knows he is dead. Cool. But then again the movie is filled with such scenes so it feels like juz another cop drama where justice and true love triumphs. (Gong Li survives the final shoot-out and is smuggled out of the USA by her nice boyfriend Sonny)

It has been a long time since i met the trio of them and it felt so ... familiar haha! Talk about medicine since hl and vora are already head over tails in their studies and bitching about mugging too hard or the chicks or fucked-ups in med fac and army where me and clement are still idling our time away in. But to tell the truth i am kinda grateful for the hiatus from studies. It's true NS takes up the whole week and 42 is a fucking 5.5 day work week (FUCK THE CO PLZ)) but weekends are free most of the time :) and it likes give me time to think about wat i really want to do and all... and it shows me the life of a soldier(quite bad really) anyway i read somewhere that some unis force their students to take a gap year before starting college to gain some new experiences and i think ns is prob something like that (though kind of mass produced and conveniently providing a citizen army for the sg gov) a recce/vehicle comm is not a bad job to be in i can easily think of worst .... and i gotta be grateful that so far in me ns time all my platoon mates have been really nice and the 42 guys are a good bunch so ya 1 and 1/2 years ain;t so long anymore :P

Note to self : start learning baking. after some consideration i decided that this would be the easiest way to satrt a business that requires little hassle. Plus: singaporeans are suckers for anything nice sweet and expensive. All I need is to come up with a good recipe, start distributing and finding contacts and voila ! money rolling in! now i juz have to wait until after taiwan...

so may ppl are going overseas to study. hmm i wonder if i should give it a shot... i had always wanted to travel not study abroad. to me going to another country to mug is a serious waste of money :) mostly cos it's me parents money and i hate to rely on anyone but maybe it seems decently fun...
