I have a feeling that I am a little late in getting the full story of the wee shu min affair but in my defence in Oct 06 i wasnt around so i guessed the whole thing juz slipped under my radar. Ok, she was rather insensitive, downright rude and bloody elitist in my post. But she was also damn funny, albeit in a acidly sharp manner. (http://solitairejoker.wordpress.com/2006/10/20/future-of-singapore/)

After reading abt the aftermath of her inconsiderate words, i was rather irritated when i realized that i too had recently suffered a backlash because of my posts. (of course much less severe haha) SOL compared with public uproar. In the wiki post abt her, there was a part abt her being old enough to be responsible for what she wrote, with a mention of the Sedition Act around the corner. Crap. And there I was, standing in the damn office, getting charged for some stupid violations of the OSA.

I wonder why the big fuss abt her post is all about anyway. Are people really so shocked to discover that high fliers sometimes have not-too-pleasant thoughts, that juz because a person was from RJC or any other top JCs, he or she would be a damn saint/role model??? I bet there is more than a tinge of mob anger and jealousy in the flood of comments slamming her. I agree with what one of the more level-headed comments said, "let he who is without sin, cast the first stone"

I also found an interesting article about scouts. http://www.internationalmta.org/Documents/2005/2005072P.pdf Basically, it meant that a couple of years back, there was a study of how to choose people suited to be scouts. (cos of the high drop-out rate) The selection criteria under study included the MAPAS test, PC recommendation and peer nomination. Apparently, you had to be quite zai with Algebra, Directions, Orientation and Verbal Analogies to be in.
