Sunday, July 23, 2006 night cycling !    the above are from the new balance real run training pics. juz uploaded them. ah after SO long, i finally managed to go on a night cycling trip. There so many times that they were cancelled last minute sigh, especially with odac ppl. i was surprised at the overwhelming response when i suggested going night cycling a couple of weeks ago. alas that trip didn't work out (i was too shagged and most ppl can't make it anyway). Never mind! it finally happened! all the rest rented bikes from east coast park (even though eugene juz bought a spanking new bike, he didn't want to ride it cos he was afraid of spoiling it. weird. ) so the plan was to meet at midnight at ecp. unfortunately, i started off from home at 11 and still had to return "In her shoes" which was quite a nice show so i obviously couldn't make it. before that i was delayed because some of the odac ppl finally met up again for dinner. oh night riding is scary man. it's damn hard to see if there's a bump or some missing drain cover on the stupid pavement especially on those stupid park connectors. and going around blindspots, you just get this unpleasant feeling that there might be a car just around the corner and WHAM. thankfully never happened yet but there were a couple of close shaves. and there's the matter of the supernatural. technically i don't believe in ghosts and such but then again in the twilight hours where u don't see another soul along the park connector and it's so dark, you start imagining things. creepy really, next time i ride at night i am taking a different route. definitely. i rendezvous with eugenes, zheng hong and their friends at dhoby gaut and we went to river valley road for night prata which tasted like normal prata. we continued towards esplenade and kallang before i had to break off to go home. super long journey but i was in a hurry so i really sped along and hit a record time of 1 hour and 20 mins haha damn tiring. |
