1 week b4 taiwan...

Re-cycle was one of the better shows i have watched so far. The fact is that it is one of the few films that actually breaches the fantasy genre even though it is billed as horror fare. The movie on the whole lacks a coherent plot but i find that to be one of its more endearing factors. Basically, it is about a writer trying to meet the deadline for her latest novel about the supernatural. She starts seeing and hearing creepy things(cue the tall, long-haired female ghost and raspy noise in the phone) before entering a world populated by the abadoned and discarded of her life. The bulk of the movie is spent in this wildy imaginative and fantasy-like alternate world. Eventually, she finds her way back to her own world or does she? (actually i am not very sure about the ending :) but it is nicely open to interpretation)
the most creepy scene is definitely the one in which she was stuck in the elevator on the 7th floor of the building. the doors refused to close and she steps out of the lift and just when the tension is the highest, an old lady and her grandson enters the lift and this time everything works just fine. They reach the ground floor and the writer steps out together with the little boy. However, his grandma called him back, saying "This isn't our stop yet.We have to go lower." SCRAY SHIT!
i also liked her journey through the other world as she tried to find her way home. The landscapes were impressive and wide in scope. The ghosts were a disappointment but it is ok. There were some rather original ideas like the part where she and a little girl (helping her to get back home) had to defend themselves against a horde of un-mourned souls and Ting-yin (Angelica Lee) hit on the idea of giving them flowers they picked on the way to appease them.
Ting-yin also had to escape from a cave full of aborted fetuses(which has a major plot bearing!) - near the end of the show, when she is about to return to her world, the little girl who had helped her for much of the journey revealed herself to be her unborn daughter she had aborted eight years ago after a failed relationship. Although Ting-yin had condemned her to the terror of being born in the cave and having to live in the other world, the little girl had forgiven her and aided her to return to where she belonged. I thought that was a rather touching moment and a fitting climax.
An example of how weird the movie was: When Ting-yin was surrounded by zombies in a desolate forest, the little girl rode to her rescue on a wooden play-horse.There was no explanation of why the undead ran away but it was nicely done anyway haha.
YAY! I just found out that i can watch anime on youtube! complete episodes of Bleach, Naruto, Kenshin and Love Hina available for free! Cool i had only used youtube for mandopop music videos previously :P
